My last post and the feedback I received from it got me thinking that perhaps it’s not just me that needs a little seduction in my life. We all could use a little love these days, right? After all, it’s the journey that matters most, not the destination, so why not tend to making our lives more enjoyable along the ride? So, let’s kick it into high gear with being a little nicer to ourselves while making our dreams come true together!
The Self Seduction series will highlight different things I am experimenting with or things proven to make my own life better in hopes that it will positively influence you too. Today let’s explore a bit about what a perfect day for you would look like, shall we?
A Perfect Day
The first part in seducing yourself is recognizing what you find seductive in the first place. As women, we put so much of our worth and how we spend our days into what society tries to tell us we should be doing and into being what our loved ones need us to be that we often times begin to almost forget what makes our own hearts sing. This has to stop right now! This week, I challenge you to tune in to what makes you feel good, what makes you happier and more joyful, and start thinking of ways to introduce more of that into your daily life.
Once you begin to get better acquainted with your seduction-happiness meter, find a quiet place to sit down and plot your day plan. In a beautiful journal (or for those of you more digitally inclined, use a journaling app like the one I use called Day One) write or type out what a perfect typical day would look like for you. Pay attention to the details here. Make sure to add things that delight all of your senses. Don’t forget to pencil something in that’s good for you and also something a bit more indulgent. You can’t begin to live your perfect life until you know what a perfect life even looks like. So, scheme it up darlings, and set that dream day into action!
My perfect work day would look something like this:
Wake up. Stretch and think happy thoughts.
Make myself presentable – shower, hair and makeup. (Yes, even if I am working all day from home).
Drink a yummy green juice concoction. Perhaps steel cut oats or e.g. whites for breakfast?
Workout. (gym, yoga, walk, or home routine)
Write in my journal.
Work. Tackle that To Do list with a gusto!
Lunch (Perhaps lunch with a friend one day a week?)
More work – with a loving and open spirit, of course.
Quitting time (no later than 6pm).
Free time to chill out or whatever.
Cook a healthy dinner.
Go for a bike ride. Zoom! Zoom!
Skin care routine.
Take a bubble bath while listening to relaxing music.
Watch a guilty pleasure on TV or read an inspiring book.
Hit the hay!
Rinse and repeat.
What my typical workday was REALLY looking like:
Eat quick lunch while working.
Stop working around 7pm. (This actually used to be way later! Baby steps, y’all!)
Veg out with mindless television shows while eating dinner.
How pathetic is that? I was missing out on a whole lot of LIVING that way and I didn’t even realize it because I couldn’t SEE it clearly! Granted, I do love my work, but all work and no play makes Stacie a very dull girl right? I had begun formulating what a perfect day would look like for me while on vacation in Aruba and have been trying to implement some of it upon my return home. So far, I seem to be hitting my mark, where most points are concerned, but I still have a ways to go at making it all a habit.
This may seem like an overly simple exercise but by doing this small thing of putting it on paper to see with my very own eyes, I opened my mind to not only what I already am doing that works (not much haha), but also to where I am having blocks towards actually realizing my dream day. For instance, I just haven’t been able to get myself to the gym in the mornings, no matter how badly I have been wanting to do it since getting home from vacation. But, seeing it all laid out like this makes it seem much more doable. I can do this! WE can do this!
Your turn! I would love to see what your perfect day looks like compared to what your typical day is like now. What do YOU find seductive that you can introduce into your daily routine? And let me know if you found this exercise helpful!
